Domestic gas to cost Tk 600, Tk 650 for single, double burners

The government has increased power prices by 2.97 percent and gas prices by 26.29 percent.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman AR Khan announced the hikes at a press conference at the commission’s office at Karwan Bazar on Thursday.

The new rates will come into effect on September 1.

Consumers will have to pay Tk 600 for a single burner and Tk 650 for a double burner in households.

The BERC earlier had increased gas prices for all categories of consumers with effect from August 1, 2009.

The gas price was again increased for only compressed natural gas (CNG) by 66.67 percent, from Tk 18 to Tk 23 a cubic metre, in 2011.- UNB
