The Qul Khwani and doa mohfil of Dr. MS Haq will be held at his Dhaka residence on Friday, February 28 after Asr prayer.
Dr. M. Sayeedul Haq, a former advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister of Fiji government, died on Monday 24 February due to massive cardiac arrest. He was 59.Dr. Haq had a varied work career both in Bangladesh and abroad. In Bangladesh, he worked in Philips as the Head of Department and Controller of Philips Factories, as well as part-time lecturer in a number of government institutions and a professional institute. Abroad, Dr. Haq served with international and multilateral organisations, government, NGOs and educational institutes in different assignments such as the project officer of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kabul; a consultant with the World Bank in East Timor, United Nations Department of Technical Cooperation (UNDTCD) and HOESCT in Kabul, and Fiji Government’s telecommunications company, representative/advisor of NGO Timor Aid, as well as course coordinator and lecturer of University of South Pacific in Fiji – a regional university serving 14 Pacific Island Countries.
Dr. Haq was prolific writer who contributed articles to various newspapers and magazines on a wide ranging topics – social, economic, political, management, science, engineering and technology. Dr. Haq presented the technical paper at the 46th National Convention of Institute of Engineers in Bangladesh. His latest work involved research and writings on Gene mechanics of which he was the proponent.
Dr. Haq left behind his wife, Sarwar Sultana, a former Acting Cabinet Member, Head of Civil Service, East Timor and Head, Resident Representative in various UNDP Programme Countries; a brother – Professor Zahidul Haque, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka – and a sister Jasmin Ara Haq. Dr. Haq was the son of late Azizul Haq and late Syeda Sultana Haq and son-in -law of late Justice Sikandar Ali.
The Qul Khani and Doa mohfil of Late Dr. Haq will be held on Friday 28 February after ASR prayers at his Dhaka residence.
