DSE, CSE end week in red

Dhaka – Share price index at the country’s both bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittatgong Stock Exchange – ended the week in red as downturn continued for the second consecutive session on Thursday.Market insiders believe the bearish trend has been an outcome of the country’s worsening political situation following continued confrontation between the rival alliances over the ensuing general election.
Transportation and industrial production almost halted since the second round of a 131-hour blockade was enforced by the BNP-led opposition alliance beginning Saturday morning. Earlier, a similar 84-hour blockade was enforced last week in protest against the announcement of the election schedule without any political consensus.

On Thursday morning, trading at both the bourses began on a negative note. After ups and down, it ended the day in red amid the news of increasing political clashes across the country.
On the last day of the trading week, prices of a large number of the issues decreased in both the bourses. The volume of trade in terms of value and number was lower at both DSE and CSE on the day than on Wednesday.
