DSE ends positive

The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange rose over 21 points to stand at over 4,160 points at close of Thursday’s trading.

This comes after two days of slide in the New Year.

Shares and mutual funds worth over Tk 1.64 billion changed hands with 161 issues gaining, 70 declining and 35 remaining unchanged.

Earlier on Wednesday, the DSE closed six month record low shedding more than 1.2 percent amidst over Tk 1.20 billion in turnover.

The previous low in six moths was on Jun 21 last year with around Tk 1.18 billion turnover.

The DSE kicked off New Year loosing more than 28 points amidst over Tk 1.53 billion turnover on Tuesday, the first day of 2013.

The premier bourse was closed on Monday.

On Sunday, the DSE ended more than 14 points higher amid above Tk 2.49 billion in turnover.

The key index gained 30 points last week with average turnover over Tk 2.04 billion, more than 8 percent lower than the previous week.
