Eid-e-Miladunnabi observed

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), was observed across the country and elsewhere in the Muslim world with due religious fervour.

On this day, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.
The day was a public holiday.
Various religious, socio-political and cultural organisations observed the day through various programmes, including milad mahfil, in the capital and elsewhere in the country.
The Muslims across the country offered special prayers and staged colourful street marches on the occasion.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages, greeted the Muslims of the country and across the world on the holy occasion.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, private television channels and radio stations aire special programmes while newspapers published supplements highlighting the significance of the day.
Meanwhile, Islamic Foundation began a fortnight-long programme, including a book fair, at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on this occasion.
