Eid-ul-Azha holiday at clothing factories in phases from Sep 21

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said after the meeting that the garment factories were asked to coordinate the dates of holiday themselves.

“No problem or workers agitation was heard in the last Eid because of this arrangement,” he claimed.

The meeting discussed payment of workers before the Eid and security in the industrial areas during the festival.

The home minister said detectives were working to stop agitation in the sector before the Eid.

“We’ve asked for setting up CCTV cameras in the industrial areas. They have already been set up in several areas. Controlling law and order will be easier once all the industrial areas have CCTV cameras,” he said.

Kamal said police and Fire Service were on alert to ensure safe journey of the holidaymakers.

In reply to a question on anti-VAT protests by students of private universities, he said, “The finance minister will speak on the matter. Our law-enforcing agencies are tackling the situation with patience.

“They have kept an eye on the protests so that the students cannot vandalise any vehicle,” he added.
