England’s Anderson replaces Broad as top-ranked test bowler

Dhaka – England’s James Anderson replaced Stuart Broad as the No. 1 ranked bowler in test cricket on Tuesday after spearheading his side to a series-clinching victory against Sri Lanka.The 33-year-old Anderson finished with match figures of 8-94 in England’s nine-wicket win at Chester-le-Street, taking him past 450 test career wickets and leading him to replace Broad atop the rankings.Anderson was man-of-the-match for his performance, which gave England an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-test series,AP/UNB News Reported.
Anderson is the fourth English bowler to reach first place since Ian Botham in 1980. Steve Harmison followed in 2004, before Broad became the third earlier this year after England beat South Africa in Johannesburg in January.Anderson is also England’s highest ever wicket-taker in test cricket with 451.
