Eva clinches Nat’l Women Chess Championship title

Dhaka – WFM Nazrana Khan Eva clinched the 36th National Women Chess Championship title with unbeaten record, dethroning WIM Shamima Akter Liza after the 11th and final round at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Friday.Eva, hailing from Manikganj district, secured 9.5 points to clinch the national women title for the 2nd time. She, earlier, emerged champion in 2000.
Bagging nine points, WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin of Narayanganj finished runner-up for the 2nd successive time, followed by 18-time champion WIM Rani Hamid of Golden Sporting Club with 8.5 points.Aahelee Sarker of Mohila Daba Samity placed 4th with 7 points, the best achievement for her in the national women chess,UNB News Agency Reported.
WFM Zakia Sultana of Agrani Bank Daba Dal became 5th with 6.5 points while Samiha Sharmin Shimmi of BASIC Bank Ltd placed 6th with 6 points.In last round games, Eva played draw against Aahelee while Shirin beat Shimmi, Rani Hamid defeated Runu, Zakia drew with Protiva, Zisha outplayed Evana and Noshin got walk-over against Tonima.Bangladesh Chess Federation Vice President and sponsor organization Saif Global Sports chairman Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest. The winners received cash as prize money with trophies.Eva received Tk 25,000 with champion trophy while runner-up Shirin Tk
20, 000 and 3rd Rani Hamid Tk 15,000.
