Dhaka, May 03 – Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has arranged some combined harvester machines and other equipment for the farmers of his home district Narail, where sufficient numbers of labour are not available due to lockdown, following deadly Covid-19. Mashrafe, also an MP from the Narail-2 constituency, requested the Agriculture Ministry to provide four combined harvester machines for his district, but the ministry allocated two combined harvester machines alongside three paddy reaping machines.
One combine harvesters machine has already reached Narail and the other allocated equipment will reach there very soon.
As per government rules, everybody has to pay for the use of that machine, but Mashrafe said he will pay the required money from his own pocket in case of poor and incapable farmers.
Earlier, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza also decided to put some of his favourite cricketing kits that he possessed for 16 years up for auction. But he did not confirm which things he would put up for auction.
Auction 4 Action which auctioned Shakib Al Hasan’s ICC World Cup playing bat for Tk 20 lakh (base price Tk 5 lakh) a few days ago, will also put Mashrafe’s things up for auction to raise fund.
Two former captains of Bangladesh cricket team Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Ashraful also would auction their favourite bat. Mushfiqur will put the bat up for auction which he used to
score the country’s first double century in the Test cricket.
Ashraful would auction two bats with which he scored the maiden Test century which made him the youngest Test centurion of the world on debut and the bat which he used to score a historical century to beat the then all-conquering Australian team.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, an MP from the Narail-2 constituency so far took some innovative ideas to combat with the Covid-19 in his area.
Apart from aiding the people with essential things regularly, he also set a disinfection chamber at the main gate of Narail Sadar Hospital.
The Narail Express Foundation (NEF), the charity run by Bangladesh cricket’s most successful captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, launched a mobile medical unit in the first week of April to serve his home district during the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the initiative, NEF will offer treatment services focused on the marginal population in the remote areas of the district. Besides anyone infected with the coronavirus, other patients will also receive medical advice and treatment from this mobile medical unit, which Mashrafe himself confirmed.
“Chairman of Narail Express Foundation, Mashrafe, has launched a medical team to treat the people who live in the remote areas of the district. The initiative has already started working. If you think you need this service, please contact us,” Mashrafe made this announcement earlier on the social media page.
“To make this initiative a success, please do practice social distancing and the other medical advice which was instructed by the government,” Mashrafe added.
Earlier, Mashrafe helped 1,200 families by providing them with food and groceries. He also provided 500 PPEs (personal protective equipment) for the health-workers of Narail in addition to donating his half- month salary for the country’ Coronavirus victims along with other national coloured cricketers. – UNB
