Faf du Plessis expresses his interest to play in BPL

Dhaka  — Captain of South Africa cricket team Faf du Plessis expressed his interest to take part in Bangladesh’s premium T20 league- Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). During a Facebook Live show with Tamim Iqbal on Wednesday night, Faf said he would love to take part in BPL in coming years.

Faf was Tamim’s first guest from abroad in his social media Live Session which he has started with the show with Mushfiqur Rahim on Instagram 11 days ago. In the next episode of the show, Tamim will talk live with India’s superstar Rohit Sharma.

“Obviously I am interested to take part in BPL. But I don’t think this is the right platform to talk about that (laugh)!” Faf said during the show after Tamim asked him about his thoughts on playing in the league.

In the light-hearted Facebook Live session, Tamim told Faf that he would like to have him in BPL and in his team.

During the show, Faf applauded Bangladesh team for their consistent development in international cricket. He said: “There was a time when Bangladesh team used to rely on one or two performers. But now you have many players who can change the game at any time. We saw you play a wonderful brand of cricket during the World Cup 2019. It was expected that you would play well. But the way you really played was amazing.”

Before ending the show wishing Bangladeshis a very good Eid surpassing the COVID-19 pandemic, Faf looked back to the painful memory of the World Cup 2015 when South Africa were eliminated from the semifinals of the event.

“I have never been broken after a game like I was after that semifinal. Not just me, but all of us were broken. It was tough for us. We used to take dinner together. But none were talking on the dinner table,” Faf said remembering those days.

The South African captain also talked about the COVID-19 situation in his country. He said many people in South Africa are struggling for foods as most the part of the country is under lockdown, and many people have lost their jobs.

Both Tamim and Faf urged their fans to stay home safely so that the spread of the coronavirus can be contained in coming days.UNB
