Parents and relatives of an 11-year-old child planned her death for Tk 30 lakh and killed her by slitting her throat in Narsingdi Sadar upazila in 2015, revealed an investigation of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday.

The victim Ilma Begum, 11, was the youngest among the six siblings.

Deputy Inspector General of CID Imtiaz Ahmed disclosed the gruesome murder of the minor who was killed aiming to trap a rival group for Tk 30 lakh, in a press briefing at CID office in Malibagh.

Quoting confession of one of the accused, Ahmed said two groups led by – Md Shahjahan Bhuiyan and Bachchu Mia had been engaged in arguments over establishing supremacy in the area.

A meeting was held at Shahjahan’s house for plotting to trap his rival group on March 1, 2015, where Shahjahan offered Ilma’s father Motaleb Tk 30 lakh for killing his youngest daughter.

Lured by the money Motaleb agreed and killed the child along with his wife Mongoli Begum and relatives.

According to the agreement, on March 27, 2015, Ilma was returning home from a local shop while a seven-member gang led by Ilma’s brother-in-law Bablu and cousin Masum hit her on the head.

They also smashed her face with bricks and confirmed her death by slitting her throat. However, the promised Tk 30 lakh was not paid to Motaleb.

After his arrest Masum who remained absconding since the killing, disclosed the bone chilling story of the murder in police interrogation.
