Protests by hundreds of students calling for the quota reforms in government job have been continuing for some time. Though the protest was put off for a month following assurances from the government of scrutinizing the existing system, the whole issue is now the talk of the town. Many people are taking for and against stands in social media. One of them is none other the Doob famed director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.Recently he opened up about the whole quota system and shared his stance about the protest through a post in Facebook. He wrote, “Many letters are coming to me regarding the quota reform protest.
I know that being silent sometimes is a crime itself. I had to speak in a program at Dhaka University a while ago. Arefin sir was also present at that program. I talked about the importance of attracting talented students to the government sectors.
The reason behind it was if government sectors lose talented minds then we will fail to discuss and bring changes into the government policies. I remembered that talk while seeing all the discussions about quota reforming issues.”
He further wrote, “I agree that Freedom Fighters are the greatest gifts to our nation. I agree to give them additional facilities. I agree to give them living and medical facilities including good wages. However, talented minds should get the first priority at government sectors and I totally agree with this notion.
However, I will warn all the sisters and brothers to watch out for extra vigilantes. They should not give anybody any chance to say something negative. At the end, I hope and pray that our honorable Prime Minister will bring the whole quota issue to a logical stance.”
