Fate of Emerging team vs Ireland Wolves 2nd one-day relies on Covid-19 result

DHAKA – The second one-day game between the Bangladesh Emerging Team and visiting Ireland Wolves, which on Sunday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, depended on the Covid-19 result of the players and the staff of the two teams.

The first one-day between the two teams on Friday was called off after Irish all-rounder Ruhan Pretorious returned Covid-19 positive. His test’s result came at a moment when the game was going on at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

All of the players gave their sample before the first one-day and returned negative. But a review result showed Pretorious positive after which the team management abandoned the game.

Pretorious was taken into isolation immediate after that.

And all of the Bangladesh and Irish players gave their sample again. The result will come to night, a BCB official said, adding that if all of the stakeholders of the game are tested negative, the second game will go on as planned.

After the second one-day, the two teams will travel back to Dhaka, where they will play the rest of the three one-day matches and two T20s.BSS
