Dhaka – Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra emerged unbeaten Group C champions to reach the quarterfinals of the Walton Federation Cup Football Tournament beating defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited by 1-0 goal in the last group match at the floodlight Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday evening.In the quarterfinals, Sheikh Russel KC will play Group A runners-up Chattogram Abahani Limited on Saturday while Group C runners-up Dhaka Abahani Limited will play Group A champions Arambagh KS in the first quarterfinal on Thursday.
In the day’s group deciding match, Uzbek forward Azizov scored the match-winning goal for Sheikh Russel KC in the 30th minute by a good header, off a cross from Mesbahuddin (1-0).
Earlier in the very 2nd minute, Azizov spoiled a good chance sending the ball wide from a vintage position.
Earlier, Sheikh Russel KC beat all-losers Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-0 goals in their first match while Dhaka Abahani Limited managed a 1-0 victory over freedom fighters team Muktijoddha on the opening day.Muktijoddha SKC were eliminated from the meet after conceding two successive defeats.UNB
