FICA decides to review CWAB’s membership

Dhaka — The Federation of International Cricketers’ Association (FICA) decided to review the membership of Crickets’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB).In a recent media release, FICA confirmed their stand to review the membership of CWAB.Top Bangladeshi cricketers have been demonstrating recently seeking an 11-point demand from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and their first demand was the resignation of the current executive committee of CWAB.

FICA appreciated the Bangladeshi players for their united stand to secure fair atmosphere of country’s professional cricketers.

“This has happened despite the challenging environment for players to collectivize in Bangladesh and it is a clear indication of the need for change in the way the players are treated in what we regard as an important cricket country,” FICA Executive Chairman, Tony Irish, told.

“It is also clear to us that the players in Bangladesh don’t feel heard or respected in relation to important issues that affect them in their careers and their livelihoods. It is duty of players’ association which should make the voice and presented as collective representative for the players but it is a matter of concern that the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) does not appear to be fulfilling its role at a very critical time of the players. It brings further concern that apparently office bearers of CWAB hold positions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board,” he added.

FICA chairman also said they are up to offer help and assistance to the Bangladeshi cricketers until the problem is resolved.UNB
