Film on Rohigyas eyeing August release

Director Prasun Rahman has announced that a film is being made on Rohingyas. The film will facilitate TV actress Saira Akter Jahan’s first big screen appearance. The film is titled Janmabhumi. Rownak Hasan has also acted in the film. The film is currently undergoing post-production works. Some shoots still need to be finished. Still the makers are hoping to release the film in August, that is to say next month. This is because on August 25 last year Rohingyas from Rakhaine state of Myanmar, started to pour into Bangladesh running from persecution by the Myanmar military.In the film Rownak is a Rohingya who has come to Bangladesh ten years ago to evade similar persecutions by Myanmar Army. As such now he is well-settled in the makeshift refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, the district of Bangladesh bordering Myanmar, that has saw seen the major influx of fleeing Rohingyas. At present times in the film- Saira also happens to move into Cox’s Bazar along with a large number of pregnant Rohingya ladies. There she meets one of her kindred, Rownak.
Through the film Saira would represent the five million pregnant Rohingya ladies currently in Cox’s Bazar. Their sufferings will be highlighted by her. Rownak says that the film has love, patriotism and also humanism. Everybody has a right to live in his/her home country. The refugee crisis has become a woeful matter of concern throughout the world. The film would address the entire world community to shed light on the horrors of a refugee crisis.
The film’s shooting in Ukhia refugee camp has finished. Some more shots will be taken in and around the Naaf river, through which many Rohingyas entered Cox’s Bazar.
