Dhaka – The Green Delta Insurance Metropolis First Division Hockey league, organised by Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF), begins on Sunday at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here.Last times runners-up Bachelors Sporting Club will play newcomers PWD Sporting Club in the inaugural match at 1:15 pm while Police AC will face Victoria SC in the other opening day’s fixture at 3:15 pm,UNB News Agency Reported.Eleven teams-Bachelors SC, Police AC, Shisu Kishore Sangha, Barnak Samaj, Mukta Bihanga Tarun Sangha, Farashgang SC, Shantinagar SC,Combined SC, Uttara Hockey Club, Victoria SC and PWD Sporting Club-will play in the single league basis competition.Chairman of the League Committee Mazharul Islam disclosed this at a pres conference at the Hockey Federation office Saturday afternoon.Secretary of the League Committee Kamrul Islam Kismat, Joint Secretary of Hockey Federation Anvir Adel and Yousuf Ali also spoke on the occasion.The champions and runners-up team of the league will be entitled to play in the Premier Division Hockey League from next season, but no team will be relegated to the lower division this time.The champion team will be richer with prize money of Tk 50,000, runners-up team Tk 25,000 and all the participating teams will get appearance money of Tk 25,000 each.A total budget of Tk 9.46 lakh earmarked for the tournament.No foreign players will be allowed to play in the league this time for the shake of local players.
