Five of a family found Covid-19 infected in Tangail

Five members of a family have tested positive for coronavirus in Sakhipur upazila, said Tangail Civil Surgeon Dr Md Wahiduzzaman.

He said they were informed from Dhaka on Thursday night that the five members of the family have been infected with coronavirus.

Upazila Health and Planning Officer Dr Abdus Sobhan said vegetable vendor Ripon Mia of Langunia village was found infected with Covid-19 on Wednesday.

Later, samples of his wife, two sons and a daughter were collected for coronavirus test and the family members were kept in isolation, he said.

All of them were found positive in the test on Thursday, Dr Sobhan said.The house of the infected people and that of their neighbours were also put under lockdown, he said.So far, six people have been found infected with coronavirus in the upazila.

Meanwhile, with the death of four more people from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Friday, the death toll from the virus in Bangladesh has stood at 131.

Besides, 503 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, taking the number of confirmed cases in the country to 4,689.
