Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed on Sunday morning after four hours of disruption due to dense fog.
Bidyut Kumar Saha, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Paturia ghat, said they kept suspended ferry services and plying of the water vessels from about 4:30 am due to poor visibility for dense fog.Two ferries remained stranded in the middle of the river Padma for the suspension.Seven ferries remained stranded at Paturia and Daulatdia terminals and around 600 goods-laden vehicles, private cars and passenger buses had to remain in wait at both the ghats due to the disruption.The disruption caused immense suffering to several hundred people lying stranded on the ferries.Ferry service resumed around 9:30 am on Sunday on the important route as fog disappeared with the sunrise. -UNB, Manikganj
