Forget past, work together in New Year: DCCI

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Saturday said the two major political parties should put behind the past and go forward to bring political stability in the country through dialogue. Thanking the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) for putting forward a poll-time government formula, DCCI President M Sabur Khan said the Awami League and BNP should work unitedly to resolve the political crisis.
“In the New Year, we expect they’ll work together forgetting the past. They can walk forward taking the TIB formula as a base,” he told UNB over phone.
The DCCI President said the economy suffers a lot due to political instability which has already slowed down the economic growth. He said the chamber and the entire business community are eagerly waiting to see the happy moment that the political parties have reached a consensus.
“The private sector firmly believes that political leaders won’t make mistakes in taking the right decision at the right time defeating all the obstacles,” Sabur Khan said.
He said the business community, teachers and civil society members can create a space for discussions taking the TIB formula as a base and bringing necessary amendments or additions, if necessary. UNB
