Ganaforum demands immediate release of Khaleda from jail

Dhaka, Feb 13 – Dr Kamal Hossain led Ganaforum on Thursday demanded the immediate release of ailing BNP chairperson and former premier Khaleda Zia on humanitarian ground. Prof Abu Syed, executive president of Ganaforum made the demand at a rally at Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Since Begum Khaleda Zia is an elderly woman, he questioned whether keeping her in such a condition was not a violation of human rights.
“It would be good if the present government consider her case (bail) on humanitarian ground,” he asserted.
The Ganaforum organized the rally demanding restoration of democracy and voting rights of the people.

Abu Syed protested the remarks of some ruling party leaders about Dr Kamal Hossain questioning his role during the war of liberation.
Advocate Subrata Chowdhury criticized the ruling Awami League saying that the party stayed away from the ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He called upon the people irrespective of political affiliation to get united and force the government to quit power and establish the democracy.
