Dhaka, Apr 20 – Production at Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory in Brahmanbaria remained suspended since Wednesday morning due to gas crisis.The factory authorities have put its production on hold following government’s decision to stop gas supply to all fertilizer factories in the country to keep power supply elsewhere uninterrupted during the summer.
Managing director of the Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory SS Kamran said Bakhrabad Gas authorities have sent a letter to them making a request for keeping its production suspended.
As the production at the factory remained suspended for an indefinite period, the factory will incur a loss of Tk 1.68 crore a day as its fertilizer production capacity is 1200 metric tons per day, he said.
However, there will be no crisis of fertilizer in the country as the factory has 32,000 metric tons of fertilizer in its stock, he added. – UNB
