Global coronavirus death toll 211,609; cases 3,064,895

The global death toll from coronavirus reached 211,609 on Tuesday morning as countries around the world prepare to ease restrictions on movement. According to worldometer data, 3,064,895 cases have so far been confirmed since the virus was first reported in China in December last year. So far, 922,581 people have recovered.
Of those infected, 1,930,705 are currently being treated and 56,300 of them are in serious or critical condition.
Bangladesh confirmed its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
The government declared a general holiday last month and shut down all non-essential services, educational institutions, transportations and urged people to stay indoors. The government later extended the holiday to May 5 as the number of cases and fatalities rose.
The health authorities on April 18 declared the whole country ‘vulnerable to infection’ and imposed heavy restriction on movement.
Until Monday, Bangladesh has confirmed 5,913 coronavirus cases and 152 deaths.
Meanwhile, 373 physicians at private and public hospitals got infected in their frontline battle against the virus in Bangladesh as of Monday, said Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians.
