Goa Chess: GM Ziaur Rahman shares 3rd place

Dhaka – Bangladeshi GM Ziaur Rahman of Saif SC was sharing the 3rd position in the 1st Goa International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament with 15 other players securing 4 points after the 5th round matches held in the Indian tourist town of Goa on Tuesday.
IM Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Sheikh Russel CC earned 3 points each while IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy earned 2.5 points, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Navy and CM Ikramul Haq Siam of Titas Club bagged 2 points each.

Tahsin Tajwar Zia and Mohammad Amir Ali Rana of Golden SC secured 1.5 points each while Md Masum Rahi earned 1 point.
In the day’s 5th round matches, GM Zia lost to GM Sivuk Vitaly of Ukraine, IM Shakil drew with Potluri Saye Srreezza of India, FM Nasir lost to Pradeep Tiwari of India, FM Parag beat Vegneshwarian of India, IM Minhaz defeated Vinay R Jumani of India, CM Siam drew with Shah Jeet of India, Tahsin lost to Dahale Atul of India, Rana drew with Phatak Aanjaneya of India and Rahi drew with Varsha Ramesh of India.
