The national marginal and small pountry farmers’ federation has demanded waiver of interest on their loans and incentives to help its members recuperate the loss suffered during the on-going political crisis in the country. The federation said that the farms producing chicks and poultry feed have made them to face huge sufferings during the last five years by increasing the prices of one-day-old chicks to as high as Taka 70 a piece and raising the prices of feed by Taka 700 to 800 a sack.
Referring to a press conference organised at the National Press Club in Dhaka by the owners of farms producing chicks and feed who claimed to have incurred loss of Taka 4,500 crore because of the political crisis and demanded interest waiver on loans and incentives, the federation said if the government has decided to pay compensation or incentives to the sectior, it should go to small and marginal poultry farmers, said a press release issued by the coordinator of the federation, Kazi Mostafa Kamal.
