Govt Secretariat to function with 25pc manpower by rotation

DHAKA – In the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, 25 percent officials and employees of every ministry and division would discharge official duties at a time or together by remaining present at the secretariat.

“This directive is only for the secretariat. Our first priority is that none gets infected by the deadly virus. So, we will do essential works with this minimum number of officials and employees,” State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told BSS today.

He said apart from the physical presence of the 25 percent officials and employees, another 25 percent will work from home.

Works will be continued in that way, however, officials and employees will work by rotation, he said, adding, directives have been given to offices across the country to carry out activities engaging essential officials and employees.

The Cabinet Division and the Public Administration Ministry have given directives to every ministry and division to this end, Farhad said.

“We are going through a crisis situation, where there is no obligation to maintain office schedule. If anyone can complete his/her work within few hours, he or she can leave office and there is no necessity to wait till 5pm when the office time ends,” the state minister said.

He said on the other hand if anyone wants to work from home, he or she will be able to do the work online and they can do so without remaining present at office physically.

Farhad urged the officials and employees not to attend office without any emergency works due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Some officials and employees are coming to office unnecessarily and thus making it risky for others, he said, adding those, who are sick, must not come to office.BSS
