‘Govt won’t last beyond March’: Gayeswar

BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy yesterday said that the present government could not sustain in power more than the month of March.
“They (AL) want to stay in power till 2019. But this government will not survive beyond February or March,” he said while addressing a discussion meeting organised at the Jatiya Press Club to mark the 50th birth anniversary of senior vice chairman of BNP Tarique Rahman.
Gayeshwar, a BNP standing committee member, said the ruling party leaders often say BNP is unable to wage a movement. “Why are they (AL) afraid of us if they believe it?  You won’t get much time as people have burst into anger and they can demolish your glasshouse any time.”Speaking on complains that the party has been doing nothing but sitting idle sais, “I will tell them there is nothing to be frustrated. We have nothing to do with with defeat. Victory will be ours,” he added.
Jatiyatabadi Karmajibi Dal organised the discussion with its president Haji Mohammad Liton in the chair.
Describing BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman as a successful politician and a competent organiser, Gayeshwar said there can be no comparison between Tarique and Prime Minister’s son and her Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
“It’s illogical to compare Tarique Rahman and Joy. Joy has got no space in politics. He mostly stays in his father-in-law’s house (USA) and occasionally he comes to his father’s house (Bangladesh) on pleasure trips. He is a future child in politics compared to Tarique,” the BNP policy maker observed.
He said people want to know how much remuneration the Prime Minister’s advisers draws every month. “We’ve heard Joy gets $2 lakh while HT Imam $2 thousand. If this is the fact now the question is how much the Prime Minister receives. One day, they will have to be accountable to people for all this.”
Gayeshwar criticised the media, saying though journalists had carried out huge false propaganda against the then government during BNP’s rule, they are not now much vocal against the current regime’s widespread corruption, repressive acts like killings and enforced disappearances.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Joynul Abedin Farooque, Gautom Chakrawaborty, ABM Mosharraf Hossain and Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah, among others, also addressed the function. – Staff Reporter
