Govt working to tackle COVID-19 situation: Health Minister

Manikganj, July 17: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said the government is working relentlessly to tackle COVID-19 in the country as he was addressing a discussion on his father late Colonel Maleque’s 20th death anniversary at Gorpara here on Thursday evening.As the chief guest at the function, the minister said “The government is working relentlessly to stem coronavirus in the country as nongovernment organizations are also working along with the government and some of them are working well”.
He said coronavirus is a new phenomenon of global disaster. “But, we are doing better to contain this pandemic than different countries in the world. A total of 75 labs have so far been set up in the country to conduct COVID-19 test,” he added.
The function was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner S M Ferdous, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rifat Rahman Shamim, district Awami League (AL) General Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam, Saturia Upazila Chairman Advocate Abdul Majid Photo as well as district AL Vice President Md. Ramjan Ali, its Joint Secretary Sultanul Azam Khan Apel and Organizing Secetary Sudeb Saha, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Chairman Israfil Hossain and district Swechchhasebak League President Liaquat Ali.
