Chandpur, July 3 (UNB) – Police Super Jihadul Kabir visited Faridganj Health Complex to see the condition of the mother and daughter who were hacked by miscreants four days back over a spurned marriage proposal.
The incident took place on Sunday night at village Poshchim Poa under number 14 Faridganj South Union of the upazila.
A local lout, Wasim, 23, had been harassing the daughter, Sathi Akhter, 17, asking for her hand in marriage from her mother, Shahida Begum.
Sathi and her mother informed the incident to Wasim’s family but did not tell anyone else.
Sathi’s mother Shahida Begum informed that criminal Wasim put pressure on them several times for marriage. She also informed the matter to the Principal of the madrasha.
In the meantime, another marriage proposal for her daughter came from another place but it was informed to them that at the moment she will not be marrying.
Meanwhile, Wasim became furious after coming to know the news of her marriage. He along with his accomplices chopped them indiscriminately after breaking in through Sathi’s window Sunday night. When the mother came to her rescue, the miscreants injured her and also three-year-old child Ayesha Akhter.
The students are undergoing treatment at the health complex for the last four days. The family members were also staying at the health complex. They could not file case at the police station being panicked of the miscreants’ possible reaction.
The police super went there to see the condition of the mother, daughter and child and enquired about treatment. He urged the woman and other family members not to get panicked. He also assured that police and the administration would remain by their side.
Attempt is on to nab the prime accused so that none would be able to harm them in anyway, he assured.
Criminal Wasim, 23, a pipe fitting mechanic in Dhaka, and son of neighbour Sultan Ahmed used to disturb daughter of Maqbul Hossain Alim examinee Sathi Akhter for the last couple of days.
