The second-day of 48-hour nationwide hartal called by Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh protesting the death penalties to its leaders for war crimes underway loosely and peacefully in Barisal on Thursday.Road transports on short and internal routes continued with less numbers of transports and passengers.Suspension of long route road transports continued like other hartal days. Water transportation functioning normally with less number of passengers.
Big showrooms, shops, commercial areas were closed, transactions in financial institutions, attendances in educational institutions, judicial, administrative offices were less than normal days in Barisal on Thursday.Law enforcing agencies patrolling on city roads to control any situation, told Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge.Anti-hartal activists led by AL and its front organisations brought out procession calling mass people to reject hartal and oust the anti-liberation forces from the country.Pro-hartal activists brought out sudden processions for photo-session in Kawnia, C and B Road, Sagordi, Kashipur areas of the city on Thursday early morning.
