Held for casino, Salim Prodhan’s Illegal building evicted

Narayanganj, Oct 5 – The Roads and Highways Department on Saturday recovered land owned by it that was occupied by casino kingpin Salim Prodhan, in Rupganj Upazila here. Mahbubur Rahman Faruki, Joint Secretary and Executive Magistrate of the department, said they conducted a drive in the area and evicted concrete structure of Japan-Bangladesh Security Printing Ltd around 10 am.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Jashim Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Rupganj Mumtaj Begum, Assistant Commissioner (land) Tariqul Islam, Executive Engineer of the department Jahangir Hossain, Rupganj OC Mahmudul Hasan, and Rupganj Press Club President Lion Mir Abdul Alim, among others, were present during the drive.
Rab arrested Salim from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while he was going to Thailand on September 30 on the charge of running illegal digital casino gambling. Later, they seized Tk 1 crore in local and foreign currency from his house and office.
On October 1, a Rab mobile court sentenced him to six months in prison for possessing two deer skins. – UNB
