Shariatpur, Oct 15 (UNB) – A total of 165 fishermen have been jailed charged with netting hilsha fish defying ban in the river Padma here.
Kafi Bin Kabir, executive magistrate of mobile court, gave the order on Tuesday afternoon.
Besides, 544 KGs of seized mother hilsha were distributed at an orphanage and 2 lakh metres of current nets were burnt.
Earlier from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon, Fisheries Directorate, police and mobile court conducted drive in the river Padma of Noria, Jazira and Bhedorganj upazilas.
