Dhaka, Jan 6 – The government has no plan to export hilsa now and not even in the next five years.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said this on Wednesday said this during a press briefing at the ministry.
“The government wants to make hilsa available to everyone in the country first. After that, we will think about exporting it.”
“We should not export hilsa in the next five years as there are still many people in the villages who do not get to taste the fish,” the minister said. – UNB
