Hotels, Restaurants Bill passed in JS

The Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday unanimously passed the ‘Bangladesh Hotels and Restaurants Bill, 2014’ aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability and skilled management in running hotel and restaurant business through providing quality service, as it played a vital role for flourishing tourism industry in the country.
The House passed the bill on voice votes as per the recommendation of the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.Earlier, on September 2, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon introduced the bill in the House and later it was sent to the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry for submitting report after scrutiny of the bill.
Chairman of the committee Muhammad Faruk Khan placed the report on ‘Bangladesh Hotels and Restaurants Bill, 2014’ that sought to ensure transparent and skilled management, controlling the quality of services and facilities, and ensuring proper management to promote tourism in the country.
Placing the Bangladesh Hotels and Restaurants Bill, 2014, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said against the backdrop of rapid expansion of hotel and restaurant business in Bangladesh in recent time, it has been necessitated to enact a new law to make the existing one time befitting.
He said with the enactment of the law, transparency and accountability and skilled management in running hotel and restaurant business would be ensured through providing quality service. – BSS
