She’s been deft at changing her onscreen persona for her roles, be it for ‘Chokher Bali’ where she went non-glam or ‘Provoked’, that saw her as a victim of domestic violence. And now for ‘Sarbjit’, Aishwarya Rai seems to have cinched it again. She looks so different for her role in the film by director Omung Kumar, based on the life of Sarabjit Singh who was convicted and sentenced to death in Pakistan on charges of terrorism and spying. And her character – as Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur – had to show several physical changes.
Not only did the film’s costume stylist create outfits with padding to portray her weight gain, but her make up artiste also had quite a task as he had to show her character from age 22 to 52. In a report Ash said Dalbir and she didn’t look the same, but the media had documented things about her so they took that to gauge her mannerisms. ?Times of India
