I-Cup Football: Sheikh Jamal DC maintain all-win record beating Uttar Baridhara

Dhaka – Bangladesh Premier League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club maintained the all-win record with 3rd consecutive
victory in the KFC Independence Cup Football beating Uttar Baridhara Club by 1-0 goal in a hard-fought Group A match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.With the day’s feat, Sheikh Jamal DC topped the Group A list securing full nine points from three straight matches after beating Dhaka Mohammedan SC 2-0 and Brothers Union Club 5-0. Uttar Baridhara remained pointless also playing three matches.

In the day’s match, Sheikh Jamal DC earned the match-winner by a gifted goal in the 20th minute when Baridhara defender Munir Alam
scored a suicidal goal sending the ball to his own net Sheikh Jamal overlapped defender Mohammad Linkon cut a cross from the
right flank and defender Munir Alam trying to pass the ball to goal his goal keeper Ershad, but his header kissed the net in the middle of the post making fool the custodian (1-0) In the 24th minute, Baridhara winger Khalequzaman Sobuj ran down in
the left flank and gave a curved a cross to Sentu Chandra Sen, whose right footed shot missed the target by few inches.In the 87th minute, a shot of Wedson Anselme of Sheikh Jamal DC from the top of the box, was nicely saved by a Baridhara goalie Ershad.In the 88th minute, Uttar Baridhara spoiled another chance when winger Khalequrzaman Shobuj again gave curved a cross from the left,
but forward Alamgir failed to make a header. Uttar Baridhara Club fought bravely with their giant rivals in the day’s keenly contested match and dominated the 2nd half displaying a good brand of football.(UNB)
