Noted Islamic scholars and educationists at an opinion exchange meeting of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh yesterday called for unity based on ideology to fight conspiracies to alienate Islam from Bangladesh. They felt that the country, Islam and humanism was passing through a critican junscture underscoring the need for such unity.
The opinion exchange meeting, presided over by the Pir Shaheb of Charmonai, Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim, was addressed by Prof. Abdul Latif Masum of Jahangirnagar University, Shaikhul Hadit Allama Moqbul Hossain, editor of Greenwatch Dhaka, Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Muhaddis of Madanigar Madrasah, Mufti Bashirullah, member Presidium of IAB Moulana Syed Mosaddeq Billah Al-Madani, secretary general Principal Hafez Moulana Yunus Ahmed among others.
The Pir Shaheb of Charmonai underlined the need for unity by giving emphasis on safeguarding Islam, instead of seeking political mileage, for the benefit of the faith and the country. The Pir Shaheb said, the lovers and torch bearers of Islam cannot but be concerned at the way by which anti-Islam sentiment has been nakedly been let loose by some recent steps taken by the authorities.
Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim made mention of the delition of absolute trust and faith in Almighty Allah from the Constitution, the framing of the women development policy that he said contains some anti-quran provisions, and provoking athiests and Islam haters to work against Islam. These steps of the government deeply hurt the sentiments of the Muslims, he said.
No process of unity other than the one centring on Islam would be beneficial to the country and the faith, the Pir Shaheb said. He urged the ulema to give up compromising mentality and tailendering of Satanic forces for the purpose.
