ICC WC: Saifuddin uncertain for Afghanistan clash

Dhaka – Bangladeshi bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin might not be available for Bangladesh’s next game against Afghanistan at Southampton on June 24 as he is yet to recover from a back injury.

Akram Khan, the chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations committee, on Saturday said the team management would have to take Saifuddin’s word about his injury.

“As far as I know, Saifuddin is suffering from a back injury and it’ll take some time to heal. I’ll talk to the team physio about it,” Akram, who is with the team in England, told the media.

Saifuddin, the 22-year-old right-arm pacer, has so far taken nine wickets in the World Cup, which is most by a Bangladeshi bowler in the event. His absence was distinctly evident in the previous game of the Tigers against Australia.

Akram suggested that Saifuddin might not be playing Bangladesh’s next match against Afghanistan on June 24 due to his injury.

Mosaddek Hossain, on the other hand, is looking good to make the playing XI in the next game. The right-handed all-rounder missed the Australia match due to a shoulder injury that he sustained during Bangladesh’s fifth game against West Indies.UNB
