Dhaka- Khulna, Sylhet and Kurigram Districts reached the semifinals of the Basundhara Group Independent Cup Kabaddi Tournament beating their rivals at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.In the semifinals on Sunday, Group A champions Khulna will play Group B runners-up, yet to decide at 8:30 am while Group A runners-up Sylhet will play Group B champions, yet to finalize, at 9:30 am.
The final match will also be held on the same day at 4 pm.Earlier, Khulna emerged Group A champions crushing Mymensingh by 79-22 points in their 2nd match after beating Sylhet by 45-25 points in the first match.
Kurigram assured semifinal berth from Group B outplaying Chattogram by 40-16 points after beating Madaripur by 58-46 points in the first match.
In the day’s other matches, Bogura beat Mymensingh by 54-34 points, Barisal defeated Chattogram 47-27 points while Bogura defeated Sylhet by 31-19 points.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Shikder witnessed the day’s few matches and later he distributed the prizes. President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation and Inspector General of Police Dr Mohammad Javed Patwari was also present on the occasion.UNB
