BD Designs Private Ltd, an Indian company, will invest $ 8.919 million to set up a garments industry in Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone, a press release said.
This fully foreign owned company has annual production capacity of 3.4 million pcs. of Jacket, Pant, Shirt, T-shirt, Suits, Under Garments and ladies wear items. The company is expected to creat employment opportunity for 4592 Bangladeshi nationals
An agreement to this effect was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and BD Designs in BEPZA Complex in the city on Thursday.
BEPZA investment promotion member Sayed Nurul Islam and Naseer Humayun, managing director of BD Designs signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
BEPZA executive chairman Major General KM Mominur Rahman, afwc, psc and its other senior officials were present at the signing ceremony.
