India records maximum foreign tourist arrivals from B’desh

Bangladesh sent the highest number of foreign tourists to India in October. Official sources in India’s tourism ministry said the number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) this year was the highest over the previous years.
Bangladesh tourists accounted for 14.15 percent of the total overseas visitors. “FTAs during the month of October this year was 6.56 lakh as compared to 5.98 lakh during the same period in 2013 and 5.56 lakh in October 2012,” a tourism ministry source said.India’s Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of FTAs on the basis of data received from major ports and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism on the basis of data available from the Reserve Bank of India.
There has been a growth of 9.6 percent in October 2014 over October 2013 compared with a growth of 7.5 percent registered in October 2013 over October 2012.
The other fourteen countries from where maximum number of foreign tourists arrived in India include USA (12.55 percent), UK (10.95 percent), Sri Lanka (3.73 percent), Russian Federation (3.64 percent), Canada (3.64 percent), Germany (3.57 percent), France (3.45 percent), Japan (3.06 percent), Australia (3.05 percent), Malaysia (2.66 percent), China (2.23 percent), Pakistan (1.86 percent), Thailand (1.81 percent) and Nepal (1.79 percent). – Agencies
