Indian clothes worth Tk1.5cr seized in Benapole

Members of a taskforce in a drive seized Indian smuggled clothes worth Tk1.5 crore from
the Jessore-Benapole Road under Benapole thana early Thursday.
Being tipped off, a team of the taskforce, led by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB),

conducted the drive on the road in the dead of night and seized 2,000 high quality threepieces smuggled from India from a truck, said Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman,
commanding officer of Jessore-26 BGB.
However, the smugglers ran away sensing the presence of the border guards.
The market value of the seized goods would be Tk1.5 crore, added the officer.
The clothes were handed over to Benapole customs authorities. -UNB, Benapole
