International conference on sustainable agriculture held at BAU

Mymensingh, Oct 19 – An International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture (ICSA) 2019 was inaugurated on Saturday at Syed Nazrul Islam Conference hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).BAU and Universiti (Malaysian using universiti) Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia jointly organized the programme on the theme of conference ‘Climate Smart Agriculture for Sustainability’.
Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman attended as a chief guest while member of planning commission Prof Dr Shamsul Alam as a special guest. BAU VC Prof Dr Lutful Hassan attended as a chief patron.
Bangladesh is a high potential region for climate change as rising of sea level and rainfall, damage crops and cause economic losses. We need to create a platform where researcher, academician, extension personnel, NGO workers, policy makers, media and many others to share their knowledge and expertise on climate smart agriculture and create wealth for the farmers, said managing director and CEO of ACI Agribusinesses Dr FH Ansarey on his keynote speech.
Our success in agriculture is the result of coordinated approach, integrating all the stakeholders as well as developing and adopting new technologies. The challenges are still huge. The biggest one indeed is sustainability of this development and diversification toward agro-industrialization for attaining the sustainable development goals, said the Science and Technology Minister.
He also said that, the reflection of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is seen in his daughter prime minister Sheikh Hasina and the relevant thoughts of both of them are being reached to all places inthe country. – BAU Correspondent
