The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating over shifting some of the matches of the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament in 2014 due to general elections in the country.According to Hindi news channel Aaj Tak, the matches could be held in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh and the BCCI has already begun its preparations for the same.
The second edition of the cash-rich Twenty20 league was held in South Africa because of the general elections in 2009 and the government declining to provide security, and it is likely that the election dates next year clash with the seventh edition of IPL.
Even though the dates haven’t been declared for the general elections, the BCCI doesn’t want to take any risk.
The BCCI has already contacted the Sri Lankan and Bangladesh’s cricket boards in order to make the necessary adjustments in case there is a need. – Cricketcountry via Google News
