IS not involved in Gulshan bakery attack: Asad

Dhaka – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said here today that the Islamic State (IS) was not involved in the Spanish bakery at Gulshan on Friday last. “The IS was not involved in the attack as it has no existence in Bangladesh,” he is reported to have told BSS.
“Homegrown Bangladeshi militant outfit carried out the attack and a clique from behind the screen has been inspiring them,” he said and sounded a note of warning that none involved with this heinous attack would be spared.
“The militants have no connections with the Islamic State. But, it is true that they are trying to communicate with international militant organizations,” he also said.
“The attack was pre-planned and part of the ongoing blueprint to make the country ineffective through carrying out anarchy,” he also said.
Earlier on Friday, criminals attacked the Spanish Holey Artisan Bakery in which 20 hostages, including nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi born US citizen and two Bangladeshis were killed.
Six criminals were later killed in a joint operation named ‘Operation Thunderbolt’ led by Bangladesh Army and one suspect was held from the place of occurrence.- BSS
