Islamic University student beaten up on Rajshahi University campus

Rajshahi, March 06 – An Islamic University (IU) student faced hijacking and beating at Rajshahi University campus allegedly by Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) activists on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Faruk Hossain, student of 3rd year Marketing department of Islamic University. He came to RU campus last Wednesday.
The hijacker was identified as Monirul Islam Moni, vice-president of BCL RU unit and student of the Folklore department of RU. And others are Jholok Sarker, Mehedi Hasan, Imran Hossain and Atik, students of Philosophy department. They all are connected with BCL.
Victim Faruk told the reporters that they were going to the Kazla gate of the university from in front of the Mannujan hall and hijackers stopped them and brought him to the Folklore chattar and beat them and took away his cellphone. Later, they brought him to the Shaheed Hobibur Rahman hall room no. 306 and beat him up again and left him in front of the Shahidullah academic building after around 2 hours.
Faruk marked the hijackers with the help of a journalist on the campus. Later, BCL RU unit president Golam Kibriya recovered the cellphone and gave back to Faruk.
Golam Kibriya said, I have gone to the Shaheed Habibur Rahman hall after getting the information about the incident and recovered the phone and gave it back to the victim.
University proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman said, The accused will be punished after getting a written complaint is lodged. – RU Correspondent
