Dhaka – Hosts Bangladeshi archers will fight for seven gold medals out of nine in the 16-nation First ISSF International Solidarity Archery Championship at Maulana Bhashani National Stadium on Monday.Bangladeshi archers entered the gold medal race in five more events — men’s, women’s and mixed team events of recurve division, and men’s team and mixed team events of compound division.Bangladesh men’s team consisting of Roman Sana, Sanwar Hossain and Tamimul Islam will play Bhutan, Bangladesh women’s team comprising of Beauty Roy, Shyamoly Roy and Radia Akhter Shapla will face Nepal while Bangladesh mixed double team studded with Roman Sana and Beauty Roy will also play Bhutan in recurve division.In compound division, Bangladesh men’s team with Abul Kashem Mamun, Milan Mollah and Nazmul Huda will meet Malaysia while Bangladesh mixed doubles team consists of Abul Kashem Mamun and Susmita Bonik will face Bhutan in the gold medal race.Earlier on Saturday, two Bangladesh archers — Bonna Akhter and Hera Moni – advanced to the women’s singles gold medal race in compound and recurved divisions.Bonna, who reached the gold deciding final of the women’s singles in Compound Division eliminating her compatriot Sushmita Bonik 130-129, will battle for the gold against Fatimah of Iraq.Another Bangladeshi archer Hera Moni, who reached the final of the women’s singles recurve division eliminating her compatriot Radia Akhter Shapla by 6-2 sets, will play Ramozamova of Azerbaijan in the gold race.Besides, Nima of Bhutan will play Fares of Saudi Arabia in the gold medal match of men’s singles in recurve divisions while Firdaud of Malaysia will face his compatriot Daniel in the men’s singles final of compound division.
