Dhaka- Most of the leading Bangladeshi archers reached the semifinals of the 2nd ISSF International Archery Championship on the 2nd day of the four-day meet at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Monday.In the Recurve Men’s Singles elimination round, country’s leading archer Rumman Sana advanced to the semifinals of his favourite event beating Alwi Mansour Fahd of Saudi Arabia by 6-0 set points while Bangladeshi famed archer Tamimul Islam booked a seat for the semifinals defeating Alotaibi Fares Mater of Saudi Arabia by 6-5 sets points and Ibrahim Sheikh Rezwan lost to Saudi archer Binali Abdalelah by 0-6 sets points.
In the Compound Women’s singles elimination round, Roxana Akter of Bangladesh beat El Faiz Souad of Morocco by 139-135, Bonnay Akter of Bangladesh defeated her compatriot Ritu Akter by 132-130 to reach the semifinals while Suma Biswas of Bangladesh lost to Al Mashhhadani Fatimah of Iraq by 135-142.
In the Compound Men’s Singles elimination round, Milon Mollah of Bangladesh defeated Alrodhan Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia by 139-137 score, Ashim Kumar Das of Bangladesh beat Ramesh Bharrachan of Nepal by 139-132 score, Mohammad Ashiquzzaman of Bangladesh beat Shkhan Waleed Hameed of Iraq by 19-9 in tie-breaker after 138-138 score while Abul Kashem Mamun of Bangladesh beat Al Daghman Eshaaq of Iraq by 140-136 to qualify for the semifinals.
In Recurve women’s singles, Nasrin Akter of Bangladesh reached the semifinals with a 6-0 set points victory over Zubaydova Firuza of Tajikistan while another Bangladeshi Radia Akter Shapla lost to Tagaeva Zukhro if Tajikistan by 2-6 set points.UNB
