It’s tragic! Dengue patient dies in moving bus

Narail – A man who was infected with Dengue died in a running bus in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district on Thursday on his way home to Narail from the capital.

The deceased was identified as Ikram Hossain, 45, hailing from Bagdanga village in Sadar upazila of Narail.

Manager of Rupganj Hanif Paribahan Akbar Mandal said Ikram boarded the Narail-bound bus of the transport company from Abdullahpur in Dhaka on Wednesday night.

When the bus reached Kalna ferry ghat, he said, the bus staff realised Ikram was not alive.

Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital after the bus reached Narail, Akbar added.

Deceased’s cousin Kabir Hossain said Ikram, staff of a security company, was returning home as he fell sick due to Dengue infection, he said.

Contacted, officer-in-charge of Narail Sadar Police Station Ilias Hossain confirmed Ikram’s death.

Meanwhile, the dengue prevalence has taken a serious turn in the capital as it has infected more than 9,256 people since the beginning of this year and claimed the lives of eight, according to official figures.

With Ikram’s death, the official death toll is supposed to be nine. A total of 547 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country on Thursday.UNB
