Janhvi to star opposite Rajkummar Rao

Janhvi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak. Being the daughter of a legendary actress like the late Sridevi sure comes with its fair share of expectations. But Janhvi managed to impress the audience and the critics with her performance in her debut film. The promising actor then went on to bag two films, Gunjan Saxena biopic and Karan johar’s Takht, immediately after the release of Dhadak. Now, the actress has gone and bagged her third film in which she will star opposite Rajkummar Rao. The film is a horror comedy titled Rooh Afza and will also see Varun Sharma play a pivotal part.
The makers of the film were looking for an actor who hadn’t tried the genre of horror comedy yet and found Janhvi to be apt. In an official statement, producer Dinesh Vijan has been quoted saying, “Rajkummar and Varun are actors, who excel in comedy and own the space. For the leading lady, we were looking for someone who had not experimented with the genre before and Janhvi fit the bill perfectly. The script is young and wonderfully crazy and though we haven’t seen Janhvi in this avatar yet, we do know she is so in real life too. I’m pretty sure she will pull off the personalities with effortless ease.”
The statement also revealed that Janhvi will play a double role in the film and both her characters – Roohi and Afsana – will be contrasting personalities. The film will be directed by debutant Hardik Mehta, reports Indian Express.
